Smarty Mom: Kaylee Lundberg
By Jen B
Smarty Mom Saturday! Kaylee Lundberg and her husband Leif live in Elizabeth. Kaylee, a native Charlottean, is a part-time working mom of two sweet boys: Gus, almost 4, and Charlie, 11 months. Oh-so-smarty, fun and stylish, we just love her.
Smarty Questions for Kaylee Lundberg
1. You're so lucky to get work work part-time, is it the best of both worlds?
I do think it is. I get out two days a week and have adult conversations and use my brain yet I still have time to do things with my boys.
2. Your husband is Swedish and he talks to the kids in Swedish, are they truly bi-lingual?
Our three-year-old understands everything that my husband says, but he answers him in English. They recently returned from a trip to Sweden together and things seemed to click for our son. He spoke more Swedish so we are encouraging him to try it at home. I guess it would help if I learned the language too. That's one of my goals!
3. Favorite kids boutique or shop?
I would probably say Fancy Pants, but I do most of my boys shopping at home shows like Mini Boden and Just Duckie.
4. Favorite place to get a good deal on kids clothes?
I find great staples at Wal-Mart and Target. I'm also an eBay Junkie!
5. You're a good sewer, do you sew any of your kids clothes or just home stuff like curtains?
I do like to sew and I've made a few jon-jons and shorts for my oldest son. Since I don't have much time to sew these days, I stick to making drapes, pillows and other things for our house.
6. Favorite weekend activity?
We love to ride bikes when the weather is nice. We usually take a ride and end up at Elizabeth Creamery for ice cream. If you haven't been there yet, I highly recommend it, they have the best ice cream!
7. Favorite weekday activity for the kids?
My son's playgroup still meets and we both enjoy going. He gets to play with his friends and I can meet with my support group. Ha ha. It really is a great way for us to compare parenting skills and how to keep our sanity at times.
8 Favorite place to eat dinner out with the kids?
Our favorites are Hawthorne Pizza, Providence Road Sundries and Jackalope's. We love the Penguin for weekend lunches!
9. Favorite parks in Charlotte
Freedom Park, Colonial Park and the playground at Christ Church.
10. Best kept secret in Charlotte?
Well, I don't think it's much of a secret anymore, but I must say the Cornwell Center. This is a family center that Myers Park Baptist Church built and they have a workout facility with childcare. They also offer great programs for kids like football, soccer, art, cheerleading, etc. They also offer camps during the summer and holiday weeks. Very inexpensive for church members and about the cost of the Y for non-members.
11. I could not live without my...
iPod... our whole family enjoys it. I make fun mixes for the kids and my oldest loves to dance with my husband and me.
12. My must-have item for an 11-month old is....
A sound machine! There is no way my 11- month old could take his naps without it. My older son is way too loud.
Thanks Kaylee!
Do you love any of the same things or have other activities in the Elizabeth area? Please share!
